ABM Unveils Revolutionary Accessibility Ramp for Aviation
ABM, in collaboration with Portaramp and TAG Sea Systems, has introduced a groundbreaking, adaptable accessibility ramp for aviation. This universal, portable solution is the first of its kind, designed to meet the unique demands of various aircraft types.
The ramp, co-designed by ABM and Portaramp, is a result of a year-long development and trial programme. It has been refined to include a narrowed width and reinforced rubber protection for enhanced safety and aircraft protection. Successful live trials have confirmed its benefits.
The ramp is now in use at Manchester, Bristol, Liverpool, Stansted, and Aberdeen airports. It enables passengers with reduced mobility to travel more independently, reducing potential delays. Louis Parfett of Portaramp UK Ltd highlighted the importance of this collaboration in expanding accessibility standards into aviation.
ABM's Assisted Services team at Manchester Airport has retained a 'good' rating from the Civil Aviation Authority for offering high-quality assistance to passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility. Samantha Saunders, Head of Assisted Services at ABM UK & Ireland, praised the collaboration between ABM and Portaramp for transforming the passenger journey.
The new accessibility ramp, designed by ABM and Portaramp, is now available at multiple UK airports. It offers a convenient, portable solution for passengers requiring additional assistance, enhancing safety and independence, and reducing potential delays.
