Accelerated Global IoT Advancement: New Evaluation Kits from Sequans and Soracom
In a significant move to enhance IoT project development, Sequans Communications and Soracom have expanded their partnership. This collaboration aims to offer evaluation kits (EVKs) powered by Soracom's global IoT connectivity, providing comprehensive, secure, and globally deployable solutions for various IoT applications.
The Sequans Monarch2 GM02S EVK and Calliope2 GC02S1 EVK are advanced cellular IoT development kits designed to deliver global connectivity and extensive coverage. These kits are particularly beneficial for massive IoT deployments on LTE-M and NB-IoT networks, offering ultra-low power consumption, global band support, advanced security features, and future-ready integration.
The Monarch2 GM02S module operates with extremely low power, reaching as low as 1 microamp in Power Saving Mode (PSM), ensuring IoT devices can have significantly extended battery life. Both modules support all cellular bands worldwide and are certified by leading operators, simplifying manufacturing and logistics for device makers aiming for global reach.
Advanced security features include an integrated EAL5+ secure enclave for iSIM, offering government-grade security for identity and cryptographic applications. This feature helps streamline processes like logistics, provisioning, and manufacturing, mitigating risks associated with IoT deployments.
The partnership between Sequans and Soracom is expected to make scaling an IoT deployment easier by ensuring a smooth transition from the evaluation stage to full deployment. Olivier Pauzet, the EVP of marketing and strategy at Sequans, expressed excitement about deepening the partnership with Soracom, while Takashi Serizawa, the head of the Europe region at Soracom, stated that the expanded collaboration will remove friction from the development process and enable customers to test, iterate, and scale their IoT solutions with ease.
Each kit comes with a Soracom global IoT SIM card preloaded with connectivity for up to 3 months. The LTE-M/NB-IoT EVK from Sequans features ultra-low power consumption and a compact form factor, making it ideal for applications such as smart utility meters, industrial sensors, health and fitness trackers, etc. The LTE Cat 1bis EVK is certified in North America and Europe and can operate on any LTE network worldwide, making it suitable for connected vehicles, logistics tracking systems, and telematics.
The Soracom suite of connectivity solutions offers additional features to secure a deployment, transmit data directly to cloud functions, manage IoT devices remotely, etc. The Soracom global IoT SIM card provides cellular coverage in +170 territories, including LTE-M coverage in 51 territories and NB-IoT coverage in 35.
