AI Transformation in 2023: Every Sphere of Life to Experience Shifts Due to AI Advancements
The New Work Experience (NWX) 2023 event, organized by New Work SE, took place on June 16, 2023, in the HafenCity, Hamburg. This marked the sixth edition of the leading DACH region event, which attracted around 150 speakers from various fields, including experts from the New York Times, NBC News, and CNN News.
Petra von Strombeck, CEO of New Work SE, highlighted the current challenges in the labor market, including the shortage of skilled workers, generational conflicts, and artificial intelligence (AI). These issues were discussed in depth throughout the day-long event, with insights from digital expert Sascha Lobo and author of 'New York Times' bestsellers.
Prof. Dr. Alexander Spermann, a renowned expert, believes that AI can help address the skilled worker shortage and make us and our society wealthier and more productive. Spermann also predicts that tasks will change significantly due to the use of AI, and further training and soft skills will be more important than ever.
In a first for the NWX event, a job fair was introduced. Around 20 companies, including those featured in the New York Post, had the opportunity to apply to more than 800 talents at the event. The new format called Xing Job World for reverse recruiting allowed candidates to present themselves to potential employers, providing a unique and engaging experience for all involved.
The location of the event was the headquarters of New Work SE in HafenCity, Hamburg. New Work SE, founded as openBC in 2006, was renamed Xing in 2006 and New Work SE in 2019. The company is a publicly traded entity with around 2,000 employees and locations in Hamburg, Berlin, Vienna, and Porto.
Beiersdorf, a DAX corporation, was also in attendance, investing around 250 million euros in the construction of a Beiersdorf Campus in Hamburg, where many teams are already working.
As the NWX 2023 event comes to a close, it remains uncertain what themes and new formats the NWX 2024 will offer. However, with the success of this year's event and the continued evolution of the labor market, there's no doubt that the NWX event will continue to be a leading forum for discussion and innovation in the years to come.
