Airtel Africa plc, a leading telecommunications and mobile money services provider, has announced impressive financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. The company's Q2 performance showcases robust growth across key metrics, including revenue, EBITDA, profitability, and customer base.

The company's revenue stood at $1.415 billion, marking a 24.9% increase in constant currency and a 22.4% rise in reported currency. This accelerated growth was primarily driven by tariff adjustments in Nigeria and strong performance in Francophone Africa.

EBITDA also saw a significant increase, growing by 29.8% in reported currency to $679 million. EBITDA margins expanded to 48.0% from 45.3% in the prior period, supported by operating momentum, stable fuel prices, and cost efficiency programs.

Profit after tax rose sharply to $156 million, representing a 408% increase year-on-year, up from $31 million in the prior period. This improvement was partly due to a $22 million gain from Central African franc appreciation and lower derivative and foreign exchange losses.

The customer base expanded by 9% in Q2 2025. Data users grew by 17.4%, and mobile money transactions reached $162 billion. Airtel Africa's total customer base now stands at 169.4 million.

Data revenue surged by 38.1%, while voice revenue grew by 13.9%. Mobile money customer base grew by 16.1% to 45.8 million, with mobile money services recording a 30.3% growth in constant currency. Transaction value for mobile money services increased by 28.7% in constant currency.

Sunil Taldar, Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa plc, expressed satisfaction with the strong growth in the company's operating and financial performance. Nearly 95% of Airtel Africa's operating company debt (excluding lease liabilities) is now in local currency, further strengthening the company's financial position.

Over 2,300 new sites were rolled out, bringing the total to 37,579 sites. The fiber network was expanded by 2,700 km, now exceeding 79,600 km. 4G population coverage reached 74.7%, an increase of 3.4% year-on-year.

Airtel Africa's shares have been returned to shareholders through its ongoing share buyback program, with $16.9 million returned as of June 30, 2025.

In summary, Airtel Africa demonstrated significant financial growth in Q2 2025 with strong revenue and EBITDA expansion, robust profitability gains, and notable customer base growth driven by strategic tariff and regional market execution.

Airtel Africa's impressive growth in Q2 2025 was partly due to a strong performance in business sectors such as technology and finance, as seen in the surge of data revenue by 38.1%. The company's mobile money transactions reached a staggering $162 billion, showcasing the impact of technology on its business operations.
