Amazon's Kindle Oasis e-reader is now available for purchase once more in Canada
The third generation of the Kindle Oasis, released in 2019, is a high-end e-reader that stands out for its innovative color temperature system. This feature, exclusive to the Kindle Oasis 3, provides a customizable lighting experience to enhance comfort and improve the reading experience, particularly in low-light conditions.
The Kindle Oasis 3 boasts a robust 25-LED front light system, comprising 12 white LEDs and 13 amber LEDs. This configuration allows for fine-tuning the light's warmth through slider controls or automatic adjustment based on ambient light sensors. By reducing the intensity of blue light emission, warmer light makes nighttime reading easier on the eyes without compromising screen contrast or clarity.
The color temperature system in Kindle Oasis e-readers functions to adjust the screen's front light from cooler white tones to warmer orange tones, mimicking more natural, warmer lighting. This feature is distinct from a traditional blue light filter found on tablets, as it physically adjusts the color output of the front light to blend white and orange tones for a more soothing illumination effect.
The Kindle Oasis 3 is only available in a 32GB, 4G/LTE with WIFI configuration, and it retails for $429.99, making it the most expensive model in the Kindle lineup. The e-reader retains the two manual page-turn buttons on the right side of the screen and features a 7-inch E Ink Carta HD capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1680 x 1264 and a 300 PPI pixel density.
