Android Users Alert! WhatsApp Shutting Down on These Devices from January 1st: Check if Your Device Makes the List

Starting January 1, 2025, WhatsApp will no longer support Android smartphones running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) or older versions. This means any device with Android version 5.0 or below will be unable to use WhatsApp from that date forward.

The list of affected devices includes popular models such as the Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Sony Xperia Z1, LG G2, Huawei Ascend P6, Moto G (1st generation), Motorola Razr HD, Moto E (2014), Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One X, Sony Xperia Z, and more. These devices cannot upgrade beyond Android 5.0 or 5.1, making them incompatible with WhatsApp's latest updates and security measures.

To prepare for this change, users are advised to check their phone's operating system. You can do this by navigating to **Settings > System > About Device**. If your Android version is below 5.1, the WhatsApp app will stop working from next year.

Users have two main options to continue using WhatsApp: upgrading to a newer compatible Android version or device, or exploring alternative messaging apps. By upgrading, users can ensure they don't miss out on new features or updates, and maintain the security and encryption of their communications.

In summary, from January 1, 2025, WhatsApp will only support Android versions 5.1 and above. Users with older devices should check their Android version and consider upgrading to a newer device or Android version to continue using WhatsApp.
