Apple Adds iPhone 11 Pro Max, Apple Watch Series 3 to Vintage List

Apple has added several devices to its vintage list, including the iPhone 11 Pro Max and all models of the Apple Watch Series 3. This classification signals the first step towards obsolescence for these products.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max, released in 2019, and the Apple Watch Series 3, introduced in 2017, have both been added to Apple's vintage list. Being vintage means these devices are old but still eligible for service and parts from Apple. However, this classification also indicates that they are approaching obsolescence.

Apple has taken this step with several other products as well. The MacBook Air 11-inch from 2015 and MacBook Pro 13 and 15-inch models from 2017 have also been added to the list. Interestingly, the iPhone 8 Plus from 2017 is currently vintage but will remain repairable for about two more years.

Five years after being added to the vintage list, these products may be classified as obsolete by Apple. This means they will have limited or no guaranteed hardware support and repair parts availability. Despite the iPhone 11 not being classified as vintage, Apple may continue to distribute it to resellers.
