Apple Shifts Focus to AI-Powered Smart Glasses for 2027 Launch
Apple has shifted gears in its smart glasses development. The tech giant has paused work on a cheaper, lighter Vision Pro headset, instead focusing on AI-powered smart glasses to challenge Meta. The first version, due in 2027, will prioritize fashion over display.
The initial Apple smart glasses will not have a built-in display. Instead, they'll offer a range of materials and frame options, positioning them as a stylish accessory. These glasses will feature cameras, AI functions, and microphones, serving health tracking purposes. Apple is accelerating development to rival Meta's Ray-Ban Display AI glasses. A later model will include an integrated display, running on an Apple chip but requiring an iPhone for functionality.
Apple's smart glasses, set to launch as early as next year, will cater to fashion-conscious users. The first version, while not having a display, will offer health tracking features. A later model will include a display, further enhancing functionality.
