Approval granted for nationwide Business Database project
The Vietnamese government has approved a plan to establish a National Business Database (NBD), aiming to monitor business activities, improve government support, and make information more transparent. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung has given the green light for the project in Hanoi.
The NBD will cover all types of businesses in Vietnam, including private companies, State-owned enterprises, and foreign-invested firms. From 2025, a basic version of the NBD will be created, drawing data from four key sources: business registration, tax, import-export, and social insurance. By 2026, the database will be upgraded to include credit and investment data.
The Ministry of Finance will oversee the management, operation, and security of the NBD, while the Ministry of Public Security will connect the NBD with the National Integrated Database. By 2030, the NBD is expected to grow to include information such as labor, intellectual property, innovation, technology, digital transformation, and sustainability. The ultimate goal is to form a comprehensive business big data system.
The NBD will combine six main sources of information: business registration, tax, import-export, social insurance, credit, and labor and employment. The Business Health Index will be updated regularly with real-time data, providing important information about the health of businesses and entrepreneurs.
Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data tools will be applied to analyze business activities more effectively. Open data platforms will also be developed, allowing citizens and businesses to search for information easily.
By 2030, the NBD is expected to evolve into a powerful tool for supporting citizens and businesses in investment, production, and trading activities. The database will not only provide a comprehensive overview of the business landscape in Vietnam but also foster a more supportive and transparent business environment.
