A survey by Bitkom reveals this shocking fact, dropping the news in Berlin back in 2025. As for the knowing' networks? More folks got those numbers down.
Scoop: The enlightening study records 64 percent of respondents can recite their number without hesitation. But just 42 percent of the 16-29 crew can do it. What's more memorable? Phone numbers of pals, family, or associates. In fact, Bitkom reports a whopping 82 percent of Germans have at least one of those numbers in their memory banks.
On average, older dusty geezers (65+) can recall the most numbers (four), while young'uns (16-29) remember the least (a mere pair). Bitkom crunched the numbers by hosting a representative survey of 1,004 Germans over the age of 16, reaching out to 'em on the old-school phone. The survey took place in February and March 2025.
