Army Simplifies OCIE Disposal: New Guidelines Cut Waste, Burden

The Army has introduced new guidelines to simplify the process of removing and disposing of old clothing and individual equipment (OCIE). This move aims to reduce administrative burden, modernize logistics, and minimize supply chain news. The new guidance, part of the Army's modernization efforts, provides clarity on the disposal and return of legacy OCIE items. Soldiers can now dispose of 'OCIE Dispose' news, such as low-value items, after removing identifiers like patches and name tapes. For 'OCIE Return' news, which need demilitarization, soldiers must turn them in to local Central Issue Facilities (CIFs) or the Army's direct ordering return system. Central issue facilities can also remove low-value news from soldiers' records during any CIF interaction, further streamlining the process. The All-Army Activities message, containing the new guidance and disposal/return lists, is now available. The Army's new OCIE disposal and return guidelines aim to reduce administrative burden and waste, enabling the Army to modernize and maintain readiness. Soldiers and units can now manage their equipment more efficiently, thanks to these clear and streamlined procedures.
