In a significant move to accelerate the transition from outdated systems to modern cloud solutions, Pegasystems Inc. and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have signed a five-year strategic collaboration agreement. This partnership, effective from July 2025, aims to address the common challenge of technical debt that hinders global enterprises from adopting innovative technologies like AI and automation.

John Higgins, the chief of client and partner success at Pega, commented that this collaboration is a significant step in empowering organizations to use generative AI for legacy application transformation. Chris Grusz, the managing director of technology partners at AWS, added that the strategic collaboration is revolutionizing what customers can build in the cloud and is changing how quickly they can get to the cloud.

The collaboration leverages cutting-edge generative AI to streamline and automate legacy modernization. Pega will integrate Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service, as the primary generative AI foundation powering Pega Blueprint and Pega Platform. Amazon Bedrock serves as the foundational generative AI engine embedded within Pega’s tools, providing secure access to large language models (LLMs) from providers such as Anthropic, Amazon, Cohere, and Meta.

With Amazon Bedrock, Pega clients can confidently use the power of generative AI across the entire app development lifecycle. AWS Transform automates the full modernization lifecycle through agentic AI, enabling enterprises to move from legacy systems to cloud infrastructure more efficiently without disrupting critical business operations.

Pega Blueprint, a cloud-based AI-powered application, leverages generative AI to accelerate the design and development of workflow applications, facilitating faster and more effective redeployment of legacy functionalities in modern frameworks. This enhancement of design and development is expected to reduce the technical debt constraints that have previously hindered enterprises from adopting AI and automation.

A Pega survey with Savanta revealed that 68% of IT decision makers find outdated legacy systems to be barriers to embracing AI and automation. This collaboration provides tools designed to free enterprises from resource-draining technical debt, opening the door for agentic automation and digital-first business experiences.

Moreover, the collaboration combines AWS AI-powered modernization capabilities with Pega's expertise in enterprise workflow transformation, providing customers with powerful tools to escape technical debt without disrupting critical business operations. Manas Kumar Sarkar, the vice president of the enterprise application integration service at Infosys, expressed excitement about the agreement as it streamlines the path to integrate Pega Platform and Pega Blueprint into Infosys Cobalt.

The agreement affirms Pega's commitment to selling in AWS Marketplace as the preferred transaction mechanism for Pega-as-a-Service. This partnership is positioned as a game-changer for enterprises burdened by legacy systems, promising to accelerate cloud migration and the adoption of AI-powered automation while maintaining business continuity.

The collaboration between Pegasystems Inc. and Amazon Web Services significantly impacts legacy modernization projects by accelerating the transition from outdated systems to modern cloud solutions through the integration of advanced generative AI services.
