Baidu's Apollo Go Expands Globally, Targets 3,000 Robotaxis by 2028
Baidu, China's leading search engine, is expanding its autonomous vehicle arm, Apollo Go, into overseas markets. With over 1,000 Robotaxis currently operating worldwide, the company aims to triple this number by 2028.
Baidu's Robotaxi fleet is set to grow significantly in the coming years. By the end of 2027 or early 2028, the company expects to have over 1,000 vehicles in operation. This expansion includes entry into several European cities, starting with Switzerland in 2026, followed by Germany and the United Kingdom. Apollo Go is also exploring opportunities in the Middle East, with Dubai being a potential hub for its Robotaxis.
Currently, Baidu is testing 50 Robotaxis in Wuhan, China, with safety drivers on board. The company is optimistic about the progress made in its self-driving car fleet, which has led to a rise in its stock price. Baidu is open to the political environment in the Middle East, seeing Dubai's high demand and modern infrastructure as suitable for expansion.
Baidu's Robotaxi subsidiary, Apollo Go, is expanding its presence globally. With plans to operate in multiple European cities and Dubai, the company aims to achieve full commercialization of driverless Robotaxis for the public by the first quarter of next year. This expansion is expected to drive potential revenue growth and share price increases for Baidu.
