June 2nd, Mitte Fire Station on Voltairestraße - In an audacious, sneaky move, mysteriously masked villains apparently tried to snatch confidential data from the secured server room of Berlin's Fire Department. Fortunately, their clumsy attempt was caught red-handed internally, setting off a silent alarm.

The guts to break and enter happened around 9:30 AM on Monday, June 2nd. The perpetrators aimed for the department's internal IT communication system, but their digital footsteps were detected, delaying their ill-gotten plans.

Upon inquiry from B.Z., the department conceded to the sensitive security incident. Vinzenz Kasch, the spokesperson for the fire department, shared the following: "Due to ongoing investigations, I regretfully cannot disclose further details."

LKA Scrutinizes the Cyber-attack on Berlin's Fire Department

The State Criminal Police Office (LKA) has hopped aboard to spearhead the investigation. Sources claim the LKA has taken up the case for alleged data pilferage and interception (Section 202c StGB). The location at Voltairestraße boasts not only a fire station but also the department's headquarters, headed by fire chief Karsten Homrighausen[1], and the Central Service, making it a prime target for cyber infiltration.

Detectives will also delve deeper to ascertain whether the sly data nab was a targeted attack, deliberate disruption, or potential data misuse.

Amid the fire department, a thorough investigation is underway to decipher how the unknown miscreants broke into the secure server room. In the wake of this unsettling discovery, all employees have received a healthy dose of vigilance against potential sabotage.
