BitFuFu Agrees Terms with Bitmain for Potential Acquisition of 80,000 Cryptocurrency Mining Devices
BitFuFu, a leading player in the Bitcoin mining industry, has announced its latest move to expand its operations and increase its mining capacity. On January 2, 2025, the company signed a strategic framework agreement with Bitmain, a global leader in the production of Bitcoin mining equipment.
Under the two-year agreement, BitFuFu will purchase up to 80,000 S-series miners, including the latest generation models such as the S21 XP and S21 Pro. This partnership is a significant step for BitFuFu, marking its first overseas acquisition, an 80 MW Bitcoin mining operation in Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian operation, expected to be operational by the end of Q1 2025, is part of BitFuFu's strategic partnership with Bitmain. This partnership ensures professional services such as miner delivery, installation, warranty, and after-sales maintenance.
The deal also includes flexible payment terms, which is expected to contribute to the rapid scaling of BitFuFu's global infrastructure. BitFuFu's CEO, Leo Lu, stated that the deal will help them expand capacity and deliver cost-effective Bitcoin mining solutions worldwide.
This expansion plan is a testament to BitFuFu's commitment to providing scalable, transparent, and stable Bitcoin mining services to various types of investors. The company, which is publicly listed on NASDAQ under the symbol FUFU, currently operates large mining farms with a hosting capacity of 651 MW and manages around 34.1 EH/s of hash power. BitFuFu also has over 615,000 registered users globally and holds over 1,700 BTC as assets.
The Ethiopian Bitcoin mining operation is the latest in a series of moves by BitFuFu to expand its operations and increase its mining capacity. With this agreement, BitFuFu aims to reach 1 GW of mining power by the end of 2026, a significant leap in its quest to become a major player in the Bitcoin mining industry.
