BMW's Electric iX3 versus the Gas-Powered X3 (G45): A Side-by-Side Look into Design, Technology, Interior, and Performance

The BMW iX3, the first vehicle to adopt the Neue Klasse design language, is set to revolutionise the electric vehicle market. This all-electric vehicle, boasting cutting-edge technology and performance comparable to its gas-powered sibling, offers a driving experience that is both exhilarating and eco-friendly.

Under the hood, the iX3 is powered by iDrive X, the Neue Klasse update for iDrive. The vehicle's torque stands at a mighty 645 Nm (475 lb-ft), propelling it from zero to 62 mph (100 kmh) in an impressive 4.9 seconds. The iX3's power is generated by new Gen6 batteries with increased energy density and faster charging, ensuring that you're never far from your next adventure.

The iX3's exterior design is significantly different from the X3, with vertical headlights and a grille that inverts the horizontal orientation of the X3. The taillights also have a vertical orientation, making them distinct from the X3. The iX3's side profile shares some similarities with the X3, but hidden door handles and lower-set headlights make it easily distinguishable.

Step inside the iX3, and you'll find the Neue Klasse interior design, including a Panoramic Vision display, reimagined center screen, and fewer buttons. The materials used are more modern-looking, and the overall design appears more cohesive. In fact, the interior design bears a resemblance to the iX model.

The iX3 features the Panoramic Display for enhanced customization and driver connectivity. This state-of-the-art display, coupled with the new diffusor and lack of exhaust ports, underscores the iX3's commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Safety is paramount in the iX3. It offers driver assistance features like City Assistant, which can account for traffic signals and drive accordingly. This advanced technology ensures a safe and stress-free driving experience.

The project leader responsible for the development of the BMW iX3 is Mike Reichelt. His vision for the iX3 has resulted in a vehicle that not only outperforms its gas-powered counterpart but also sets a new standard for electric vehicles.

While it's difficult to gauge the comfort of the new seats in the iX3 from press photos, one thing is certain: the BMW iX3 is a game-changer in the world of electric vehicles. Its technology capabilities outstrip anything the G45 BMW X3 is capable of, making it an exciting prospect for environmentally conscious drivers looking for a thrilling driving experience.
