Breitling unveils its first significant update to the Superocean Heritage model in eight years, focusing on proper sizing.

Unleashing the Rebooted Breitling Superocean Heritage:

Tired of wrapping your wrist around a watch that'sbiggerthan Jupiter? That'sancient history, my friend! Breitling's 2025 overhaul of the beloved Superocean Heritage has you sorted, dropping the oversized baggage, and serving up sizetime options suited for just 'bout anyone.

For two decades, the Superocean Heritage has been the unreachable oceanfront mansion, its beauty marred by its colossal size. But the siren's call of this iconic dive watch is now within reach as Breitling sculpted it down to fit the majority of wrists!

Honoring an Elegant Dive Watch Legacy

The Superocean Heritage doesn't just sip from the Fountain of Youth; it drinks straight from the firehose. You see, it's not just another pretty face. This beauty draws from Breitling's groundbreaking 1957 dive watch heritage, a time when they refused to play second fiddle to Rolex's Submariner. They pushed boundaries and crafted a watch that combined form and function with an elegant touch.

Fast forward to present day, the new collection pays homage to that original spirit. With the B01 Chronograph 42, Automatic 36, B31 Automatic 40, 42, and 44, and a B31 Automatic 40 Kelly Slater Edition, you've got an array of choices that all dance around the classic design cues: the minimalist ceramic bezel, the iconic arrow-and-spear hands, and the timeless balance between style and substance.

Size Matters (and More)

Before, your only options were watches that would make a giant feel cramped, but Breitling eventually gave in and introduced 40mm and 36mm case sizes, putting an end to this sizing monstrosity. The 40mm variant is the sweetest deal, offering an everyday wearability that'll make you wonder how you ever lived without it. It's thinner, too, coming in at just 11.73mm, down from a whopping 14.35mm in previous iterations.

This downsizing became possible thanks to Breitling's revolutionary new B31 automatic movement, their first homemade three-hand manufacture caliber. This bad boy promises a substantial 78 hour power reserve while maintaining COSC chronometer certification and can be seen through the new sapphire display caseback.

The budget-friendly 36mm models rock Breitling's Caliber 10, a modified Sellita SW300, delivering chronometer performance and a 42 hour power reserve.

Aesthetic Evolution

Instead of going full-on Avatar, Breitling kept the cosmetic changes subtle. The dials in particular, are reimagined with sunburst finishes for added depth and new triangular applied indices for enhanced legibility. Available in blue, green, or black for the 42mm, 44mm, and Chronograph models, or just green and black for the 40mm. The 36mm variants come in blue or light green.

The '12 o'clock skewered circle marker, reminiscent of the original 1957 Superocean, adds a quirky charm to the dial. The hands have been reshaped, sporting broader silhouettes, and now boast a lumed dot on the second hand.

The biggest of the Superocean Heritage family used to be a 46mm beast, but now it's a tamed 44mm, packing a modest 12.17mm thickness and a 52.17 lug-to-lug. The top-tier navy blue version gets an extra dash of luxury thanks to an 18k red gold bezel and crown, decked out with matching indices and hands.

Material Upgrades

Making the leap from aluminum to ceramic bezel inserts across the entire collection, Breitling adds durability to its aesthetic charm. Lastly, the straps have been overhauled, with new mesh-like textured rubber straps and a redesigned mesh bracelet featuring integrated end links.

The Kelly Slater Connection

Alongside the new variations, the Superocean Heritage drops a limited-edition collab with surfing legend Kelly Slater. Limited to only 500 pieces, this 40mm beauty features a tropical foliage pattern on the dial that's less ostentatious than it sounds.

Chronograph Upgrades

Wrapping up the lineup, we've got the polished Superocean Heritage B01 Chronograph, embracing the biggest change since its inception. Breitling smartly slashed the case size from the previous 44mm to a more manageable 42mm, shrinking the lug-to-lug measurement to 49.56mm and trimming nearly 1mm off the thickness, landing at 14.55mm. There's both a stainless steel version and a two-tone steel and red gold model inspired by the 44mm B31 version.

Available in black or dark blue (all steel only), the dial gets an overhaul, shedding one of the chronograph registers to display only a running seconds register and a 30-minute totalizer. The B01 movement is still in charge, offering a 70-hour power reserve, column-wheel construction, and vertical clutch all visible through the sapphire caseback.
