The company announced that its cumulative passenger vehicle sales in Japan have surpassed 5,000 units, marking its debut in Japan's top 10 imported car sales list.

The milestone was reached with the sale of the Sealion 7, a locally renamed version of the Sealion 07 EV. This electric SUV was launched in Japan in April, and it was the 5,000th passenger vehicle sold by BYD in the country.

BYD's entry into the Japanese market began in July 2022. The company started selling vehicles in Japan in January 2023. Interestingly, the Atto 3, known as the BYD Yuan Plus in China, was the first model BYD sold in Japan.

Since its entry into the Japanese market, detailed data on BYD's best-selling models and overall market performance in Japan is not readily available. This could be due to limited market impact so far or a lack of published data. However, it's worth noting that BYD has been expanding aggressively globally, with strong market share growth in China and other regions, notably in electric and hybrid vehicles.
