BYD Expands Electric Vehicle Presence in Bangladesh with New Showroom
Chinese automaker BYD is making a significant stride in Bangladesh's electric vehicle (EV) market. The company, in partnership with CG-Runner BD Ltd., has launched its first official showroom in Dhaka, marking a milestone in its nationwide expansion as the sole authorised distributor in the country.
The showroom, located in the Haque Building in Tejgaon, was previously home to a prominent Runner Group showroom. BYD also plans to establish a cutting-edge service center nearby to support sales and maintenance, ensuring a seamless customer experience.
The showroom's inauguration was attended by notable figures from the automotive, diplomatic, and business sectors. Steven Chen, Country Representative of BYD, expressed his excitement, stating that the launch marks a step forward in shaping the future of mobility in Bangladesh.
The showroom is operated by Noor Autos, BYD's newly appointed regional dealer partner. Sanjid Shah Noor, CEO of Noor Autos, expressed his excitement about partnering with the global leader in EV technology.
BYD's current expansion strategy in Bangladesh focuses on the launch of its first premium EV sedan, the BYD Seal, in March 2026. The company aims to cater to the high-end market segment initially, with plans to gradually introduce more affordable models aligned with mass-market demand.
The BYD Seal, a premium passenger sedan, will feature fast charging capabilities (40 minutes for a full charge) and a driving range of up to 540 kilometers, catering to discerning customers in the "above-crore taka" price segment.
In addition to the Dhaka showroom, BYD is also preparing to expand into Chattogram soon. The company's phased expansion approach positions it to initially compete in the premium EV segment while preparing to capture a broader customer base as the EV market in Bangladesh matures.
