Celebrate National Trails Day by giving the Hypershell X, an outdoor exoskeleton, a test run for all enthusiasts.

Hiking just got a whole lot easier, thanks to the fantastic Hypershell Pro X exoskeleton! This bad boy is designed for adventurers of all stripes, helping you go the distance on your outdoor expeditions with enhanced bionic assistance. Our very own Kyle Barr strapped one on and was blown away by the results.

Mark your calendars for June 7, 2025: National Trails Day! That's when Hypershell is partnering with the American Hiking Society to give 30 lucky volunteers the chance to test out the Hypershell Pro X at 10 different hiking sites across the country.

Kelvin Sun, the founder and CEO of Hypershell, shares their excitement about the collaboration: "Hypershell was founded on the belief that technology should expand the boundaries of human movement, especially in the wild. Our mission aligns deeply with that of the American Hiking Society, which has been the national voice for America's hikers for nearly 50 years. We're honored to stand with them in promoting access, adventure, and stewardship on the trails."

So what makes this exoskeleton so special? Picture this: The Hypershell X snugly attaches to your back, waist, and legs, helping you cruise through hikes with ease, upping your speed and extending your endurance. It's like cheat mode for hiking!

Whether you're a hiking newbie or a seasoned pro, the Hypershell X is here to take your game to the next level. For beginners, it provides the confidence to conquer the trails; for experts, it adds a synthetic boost to your natural abilities. It even caters to kids and seniors, helping youngsters reach their full potential and boosting the energy of our aging adventurers.

With three models to choose from – the Go X, Pro X, and Carbon X – you can find the perfect fit for your needs. Each model offers an increasing level of performance and power, with Hypershell promising that the Pro X and Carbon X can give you up to 40% more leg strength and reduce exertion by up to 30%. The exoskeleton can also offset up to 30 kg (66 lbs) of weight, while boasting a battery range of up to 17.5 km (almost 11 miles).

And don't worry about lugging around a heavy machine: The Hypershell X exoskeleton weighs a mere 2 kg (4.4 lbs), all but vanishing on your back. Plus, its lightweight and unobtrusive design make it perfect for running and cycling as well.

The Hypershell X also features an AI MotionEngine, which continuously adapts to your movement and learns your walking gait, providing real-time assistance and propelling you forward with ease. You can wear the battery pack on your back like a rucksack, and when you're not using it, the exoskeleton folds down for easy transport. And with the battery weighing just 400 g (0.88 lbs), you can easily pack spares for even longer hikes or multiple-day adventures.

The Hypershell X offers multiple levels of control over the amount of assistance it provides, with three modes of operation to choose from. It's also IP54-rated, able to function in temperatures as low as -10° C (14° F), making it an all-weather companion for your outdoor adventures.

In Kyle's review, he praised the Hypershell Pro X for its ease of use, comfort, and efficiency. He concluded that the device could benefit a wide range of people, including not just seasoned hikers but also those who might otherwise be held back by ability, age, or injury.

The Hypershell X even snagged an Innovation Award at CES 2025, with its "revolutionary and ultra-light ergonomic design" singled out for special praise. Exoskeletons are no longer the stuff of science fiction or the rich and powerful; they're becoming more accessible to everyone, and you might start to see them popping up on your favorite hiking trails.

Don't miss your chance to try out the Hypershell Pro X during National Trails Day this year! Just show up at the Tahoe Rim Trail project near Big Meadow Trailhead in Lake Tahoe, California, to experience the benefits for yourself. Remember, these events bring together hikers from all walks of life to advocate for public lands, connect with their community, and give back to the trails.
