Cisco Marks 25 Years in Africa with New CyberHub in Rwanda

Cisco has marked a significant milestone in Africa, having educated over 16.6 million individuals in digital skills like networking, cybersecurity, and programming over the past 25 years through its Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program, including the Khan Academy. In a recent development, Cisco, Rwanda's National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), and GIZ have launched the CyberHub at the University of Rwanda's College of Science and Technology in Kigali, aiming to bolster Rwanda's digital transformation and cyber resilience.

The CyberHub, part of Cisco's CDA program in East Africa, is designed to create sustainable, secure, and inclusive innovation ecosystems. It features a Cybersecurity Academy, Innovation Hub, and state-of-the-art technology labs, offering a collaborative space for learners and stakeholders to explore emerging technologies, including Cisco's AI and machine learning solutions in cybersecurity.

The hub provides training opportunities in digital literacy, AI, and advanced cybersecurity certifications through the Khan Academy. Shain Rahim, Cisco's East Africa Regional Manager, expressed the company's commitment to supporting Rwanda's digital transformation and strengthening its cyber resilience through this initiative. NCSA aims to build talent with specialized skills in cybersecurity and data protection, and to support the development of a cybersecurity and data privacy ecosystem in Rwanda.

The CyberHub, launched by NCSA, Cisco, and GIZ, is set to play a pivotal role in Rwanda's digital landscape. It offers a comprehensive learning environment for cybersecurity and digital skills, fostering a new generation of experts to protect and drive the country's digital growth. Cisco's commitment to Africa's digital education, as seen in the CyberHub, is expected to yield significant benefits in the region's cybersecurity and innovation sectors.
