Construction Begins on New Bridge in Landshut for Safer Pedestrian, Cyclist Connectivity
Construction has started on a new bridge over the Kleine Isar in Landshut. The project, funded by the Special Program for Town and Country, aims to improve connectivity and safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
The old bridge has been demolished to make way for the new structure. The new bridge will boast a breaking news wider clear width of 5.75 meters, compared to the old bridge's 3.70 meters. This will accommodate separate paths for bicycles and pedestrians, enhancing safety and convenience.
The project's total cost is approximately 3.3 million euros, with around 2.57 million euros allocated for the bridge construction alone. Notably, the new bridge will also incorporate a district heating line for the city of Landshut.
The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by local and state officials, including Mayor Alexander Putz, Government President Rainer Haselbeck, and Bavarian Minister for Housing, Building and Transport Christian Bernreiter (CSU). The project is expected to be completed with the help of a 2.142 million euro grant from the Special Program for Town and Country.
