Cookd Raises $2M for Preservative-Free Products, South India Expansion
Chennai-based consumer food startup Cookd has secured Rs 16 crore ($2 million) in a pre-Series A funding round. The company plans to use the funds to fuel its growth and product development.
Cookd boasts a strong presence with over 1,600 retail stores and partnerships with quick commerce platforms like Swiggy Instamart, Blinkit, and Zepto. It also has a significant online following, with over 6 million followers across social media platforms and monthly video views exceeding 150 million.
The startup aims to accelerate its product development, focusing on preservative-free masalas, gravies, and ready-to-use kits. Cookd claims leadership in the biryani kit segment within quick commerce, attributing its success to category-defining innovation. The funding will support its expansion across South India, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh.
Cookd's latest funding round was led by Spring Marketing Capital, with participation from Eternal Capital, Sun Icon Ventures, and PeerCheque. The company aims to build a loyal community while expanding its product range and geographical reach.
