Deutz AG Acquires Sobek Group to Boost Electric Drive Systems for Drones
In a significant deal, Deutz AG has acquired Sobek Group GmbH, a leading developer of electric drive systems for drones. The acquisition, advised by Taylor Wessing, was finalised on September 1, 2025.
Taylor Wessing, led by Dr. Klaus Grossmann and Dr. Marcel Leines, guided Deutz AG through the full acquisition of Sobek Group. The transaction saw Deutz AG purchase 100% of Sobek's shares from its CEO, Olaf Hahn.
Sobek Group, with around 70 employees, expects revenues in the low to mid double-digit million euro range for the 2025 fiscal year. The company specialises in developing and manufacturing electric drive systems for unmanned flight systems and military drones.
Meanwhile, in another deal, Gorg advised Schuetz GmbH & Co. KGaA on the acquisition of EC Group, a global leader in complex composite materials with approximately 930 employees. DN Solutions, a Korean machine tool manufacturer, also plans to acquire 100% of Heller Group's shares, advised by Gleiss Lutz.
These acquisitions, advised by prominent law firms, aim to strengthen each company's position in their respective markets. Sobek's expertise in electric drive systems will bolster Deutz AG's offerings, while EC Group's composite materials and Heller Group's machine tool technology will benefit Schuetz GmbH & Co. KGaA and DN Solutions respectively.
