Developments in Refrigerated Transport: TEC Issues Orders for Refrigerator Truck Manufacturing and Delivery

In the rapidly evolving landscape of commercial electric vehicles (EVs), Mullen Automotive and Bollinger Motors are making significant strides. Under their new unified banner, Bollinger Innovations Inc., they are targeting fleet customers with a range of affordable, certified Class 1 to Class 4 EVs.

Key innovations in their product line include the Mullen ONE, a Class 1 EV cargo van, and the Mullen THREE, a Class 3 EV cab chassis truck. With adjustments to incorporate federal incentives, these vehicles offer competitive pricing, with MSRPs of $27,000 and $61,000, respectively.

Bollinger Motors' Class 4 all-electric B4 chassis cab truck, produced in Michigan, is another standout. Its patented Quad Bend frame construction houses a large 158-kWh battery inside frame wells, enhancing capability and safety, while a tight turning radius makes it ideal for urban use.

Strategic partnerships are also a key part of their growth strategy. In September 2022, Bollinger Motors became majority-owned by Mullen Automotive, boosting collaboration in product and service offerings. Mullen Automotive later changed its name to Bollinger Innovations Inc. in July 2025 to streamline operations.

To further their reach, Bollinger Innovations is offering a $7,500 price adjustment on existing Mullen-branded EV inventory, matching the Inflation Reduction Act federal incentive. Additionally, New York State and other programs offer substantial incentives for commercial EVs like the Bollinger B4, encouraging fleet purchases.

Mullen Automotive has recently announced a collaboration with Emerald Transportation Solutions and the Papé Group to create a refrigerated upfit for the Mullen THREE. This partnership targets the growing demand for sustainable transportation in industries like home delivery, frozen food, grocery, and beverage distribution.

Associated Coffee, a San Francisco Bay Area distributor, has placed an order for 10 Class 3 EV cab chassis trucks from Mullen Automotive. The Bollinger B4 trucks, with their versatile customizable configurations, dual rear-wheel drive axle, and a range of 110-200 miles, are part of Mullen Automotive and Bollinger Motors' expansion in the commercial EV market.

CEO David Michery expressed pride in supporting Associated Coffee's sustainability initiatives while promoting EV adoption in the Bay Area. The collaboration between Associated Coffee, Mullen Automotive, and the Papé Group underscores Mullen's role in advancing eco-friendly solutions for the commercial transport sector.

The Bollinger B4 trucks, with their payload capacity of 7,325 pounds, are designed for versatility and fleet use. Meanwhile, the Mullen THREE offers a versatile chassis supporting bodies up to 14 feet long and payloads over 5,300 lbs, making it an ideal platform for customized solutions.

Mullen Automotive's strategic partnerships extend beyond the fleet management industry. A follow-on order for seven Bollinger B4 all-electric Class 4 trucks from TEC Equipment demonstrates their efforts to establish partnerships across various sectors.

Mullen Automotive's EV lineup, including the Mullen THREE Class 3 truck, adheres to stringent environmental standards. Their comprehensive approach combines advanced EV engineering, expanded dealer networks across key U.S. regions, and strategic use of federal and state tax incentives to strengthen their foothold in the commercial EV market.
