Hyundai Creta Electric: A Comprehensive Look at the Upcoming Electric SUV
The automotive industry is abuzz with excitement as Hyundai prepares to launch its electric version of the popular Creta SUV. Scheduled to hit the market around mid-2025, the Creta Electric is set to redefine the electric vehicle (EV) landscape with its innovative features and design.
One of the standout aspects of the Creta Electric is its sleek interior. The drive selector, mounted on the steering column, frees up space in the center console, allowing for the addition of two cup holders. The dashboard features two 10.25-inch screens, one for the infotainment system and the other for the virtual cluster, providing a modern and user-friendly interface.
The infotainment screen displays EV-specific graphics, including km/kWh consumption, regen-mode, battery state of charge (SOC), speed, and range. The virtual cluster, too, showcases EV-specific details, such as regen-mode and battery SOC.
The Creta Electric is equipped with a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitors, auto wipers, and a host of safety features including six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic parking brake, hill start assist, hill descent control, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
The vehicle also boasts advanced high-strength steel and high-strength steel in its structure, ensuring robustness and safety. The interior, while similar to the Creta Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) model, has some changes, such as a touch-based HVAC control panel, similar to the Alcazar facelift.
The Creta Electric offers two battery pack options: 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The electric motor with the 42 kWh battery pack generates 133 bhp and has a claimed range of 390 km. The larger battery pack, on the other hand, churns out 169 bhp and offers a claimed range of 473 km. The Creta Electric can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.9 seconds with the larger battery pack.
Another notable feature is the battery heater, designed to improve the vehicle's performance in cold weather conditions. The Creta Electric also comes with the vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, allowing for power to be supplied to external devices.
The Creta Electric's steering wheel features the Hyundai logo replaced by the brand's new logo in Morse code. The vehicle is equipped with a 3-phase AC induction motor, and it will have a front-wheel drive powertrain. Regen braking in the Creta Electric is linked with Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS).
The Creta Electric is also equipped with a digital key, shift-by-wire, voice commands, connected car tech, and dual-zone climate control, further enhancing the driving experience. The battery of the Creta Electric is mounted on the floor, potentially allowing for a flat floor, and it may also get a frunk, but this remains to be seen.
The Creta Electric is set to launch later this month. With its innovative features, sleek design, and impressive performance, it is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new offering from Hyundai.
