Energy company Envision Energy teams up with FERA Australia to develop 1GW wind energy and 1.5GWh energy storage projects in Australia.

In a significant move towards a sustainable energy future, Envision Energy and FERA Australia have announced a groundbreaking collaboration to deliver large-scale hybrid renewable energy projects across Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM). This partnership, formalized at the Australian Wind Energy Conference in Melbourne, aims to integrate up to 1 gigawatt (GW) of wind power with 1.5 GWh of battery energy storage, combining advanced wind turbine technology and next-generation containerized battery systems.

The collaboration marks a significant milestone in the development of hybrid renewable infrastructure in Australia. The partnership's first pilot project will be launched in Victoria, featuring Envision's grid-forming battery storage, full converter wind turbine, and advanced Hybrid Power Plant Controller (HPPC) technology in a grid-connected hybrid plant. This project will serve as a showcase for hybrid systems' potential to enhance grid reliability.

Kane Xu, SVP and President of International Product Line of Envision Energy, stated that the collaboration demonstrates how hybrid wind and storage solutions can unlock new possibilities for Australia's energy future. Sebastiano Falesi, Head of FERA Australia and Member of the Board of Directors of the FERA Group, expressed excitement about partnering with Envision Energy for large-scale renewable projects in Australia.

The projects aim to modernize and stabilize Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM), which spans across the eastern and southern coastlines, including Tasmania. The collaboration is crucial for supporting Australia’s transition to zero-carbon energy, leveraging Envision's cutting-edge technology and global expertise to achieve new standards in performance and reliability.

Envision's integrated technology platform includes advanced wind turbines, next-generation containerized battery systems, grid-forming power conversion systems (PCS), and the company's proprietary Hybrid Power Plant Controller (HPPC). The partnership between Envision Energy and FERA Australia will begin with a pilot project in Victoria and is expected to showcase the benefits of hybrid renewable energy projects in the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM).

The collaboration represents a significant step forward in the development of hybrid renewable infrastructure in Australia, marking an inflection point in cross-regional investment as Envision deepens its footprint in the Asia-Pacific energy transition. The initiative is the first of its kind in Australia and reflects the growing confidence in Envision's integrated technology platform for large-scale hybrid renewable energy projects.

The pilot project will not only demonstrate how hybrid systems can enhance grid reliability but also unlock new value streams. The partnership aims to deliver up to 1 GW of wind generation capacity and 1.5 GWh of battery energy storage, focusing on hybrid wind and storage solutions to enhance grid reliability and support Australia's transition to zero-carbon energy.
