Apple Launches AirPods Pro 3 with Enhanced Noise Cancellation and Precise Tracking

Apple has announced the release of its latest addition to the AirPods Pro family, the AirPods Pro 3. The new earbuds are now available in stores this week.

The AirPods Pro 3 have been optimized in hardware to enhance active noise cancellation, making them the world's best active noise cancellation earbuds, according to Apple. This improvement is achieved by enhancing the computational audio algorithms and using a more advanced processor and improved microphone system. As a result, the AirPods Pro 3 can remove up to 2x more disturbing noises than the AirPods Pro 2.

The foam-filled Ear Tips, one of the new features of the AirPods Pro 3, do not affect the active noise cancellation optimization in hardware. Instead, they provide better passive noise isolation, contributing to dramatically more immersive listening experiences on the go. The Ear Tips come in five different sizes, allowing users to find the appropriate fit for their ears.

The shape of the earbuds in the AirPods Pro 3 has been optimized to cater to a broader audience. The new design also enables the MagSafe charging case to offer more precise tracking with certain devices. This precision tracking is made possible by the inclusion of an Ultra-Wideband U2 chip in the MagSafe charging case.

However, the 1.5x improvement in tracking range via Precision Finding with the Find My U2 chip is only available on iPhone 17 models and the iPhone Air. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 also have the U2 chip, but the 1.5x improvement in tracking range is not available on these models.

Interestingly, the AirPods Pro 3 do not have a new audio chip compared to the AirPods Pro 2. They still use Apple's H2 headphone chip, introduced in 2022 with the AirPods Pro 2.

The appropriate size of the Ear Tips for the AirPods Pro 3 is determined by the Acoustic Seal Test software on the iPhone. This software helps users find the perfect fit for their ears, ensuring optimal performance of the earbuds.

Lastly, the foam-filled Ear Tips enable a tighter "Acoustic Seal" that improves the performance of the transparency mode. This means users can enjoy clearer and more natural sound when using the transparency mode in noisy environments.

With its enhanced noise cancellation, precise tracking, and improved design, the AirPods Pro 3 are set to redefine the wireless earbuds market. For those looking for an upgrade, the AirPods Pro 3 are now available in stores.
