European Debut of Tesla's Model Y: Initially, just the "Launch Series" available, priced more expensively
New Tesla Model Y Launch Series Debuts in Europe
Tesla has unveiled the refreshed Model Y for the European market, offering several improvements and upgrades over the previous model. The new Launch Series, based on the 2025 "Juniper" refresh, boasts a sleeker design, enhanced comfort, improved range, and advanced driver-assistance features.
Exterior and Lighting
The new Model Y features a more streamlined front nose design, replacing the previous model's headlight styling with a full-width light bar across the hood as daytime running lights. The rear now sports a full-width light strip, enhancing the modern look.
Interior Enhancements
Inside, the new Model Y offers a configurable ambient light strip running along the cabin, a new touchscreen for rear passengers, and powered rear seats for improved convenience. The redesigned suspension and new suspension bushings contribute to a substantially more comfortable and supple ride.
Performance and Range
The long-range version's range has been extended to about 719 km (447 miles) WLTP, up from 688 km previously. Top speed is slightly reduced in non-performance versions from 135 mph to 125 mph.
Driver Assistance and Features
The Launch Series special edition includes Tesla’s "Full Self-Driving (Supervised)" advanced driver-assistance suite as standard, typically costing around €8,000. The new Model Y retains the traditional turn signal stalk, addressing customer feedback from previous models.
Additional Information
Tesla reintroduced a three-row, seven-seater Model Y option as of June 2025. The new Model Y in the Launch Series costs €60,990 in Germany, €6,000 more than the previous version with the same drive. The standard 20-inch wheels provide a range of 568 kilometers, compared to 533 kilometers on the previous Model Y LR AWD.
The new Model Y is now available for order in Europe and will begin deliveries in March. The updated Model Y for the European market offers Black and QuickSilver colours at no extra cost, unlike in previous models where they cost €2,200 extra. A camera has been installed in the front bumper, making it a total of eight cameras on the outside. The improved aerodynamics of the updated Model Y enable a higher range with an apparently unchanged battery.
Shortly after the European launch, Tesla opened orders for the new Model Y in the USA. The new Tesla Model Y will initially be offered in a single variant: LR AWD. The new Model Y features heated and ventilated front seats, similar to the Model 3, and the premium for the Launch Series in the USA is $12,000. Further variants of the new Model Y will be introduced in the future, according to Tesla.
