Expanding its presence in Bengaluru, JSA has welcomed two new partners, continuing the red-hot market trend
Bengaluru Witnesses Legal Revolution with Expansion of Established Firms and Emergence of Boutique Models
In a significant development for the Indian legal landscape, Bengaluru is experiencing a surge in the presence of both established law firms and innovative boutique models. This transformation reflects the city's growing importance as a legal and technology hub.
Several top-tier law firms, such as CMS INDUSLAW and Trilegal, are expanding their operations in Bengaluru. CMS INDUSLAW is strengthening its Employment and Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) practice, while Trilegal is reinforcing its Corporate Practice with new partners in the city.
The city is also witnessing the launch of agile, AI-powered boutique firms by leading legal professionals. Firms like Venture A Law, First Principles Law, Clarence & Partners, and AVB Chambers are focusing on startups, venture capital, technology-driven solutions, and regulatory work, mirroring Bengaluru’s tech ecosystem.
J. Sagar Associates (JSA) is one such firm that has been actively expanding its presence in Bengaluru. In less than a month, JSA has made six partner hires, including Santosh Vijay, Brijita Prakash, and Harshavardhan Abburi.
Santosh Vijay, a specialist in private equity and venture capital deals, particularly in the start-up space, has joined JSA as a corporate partner. Vijay previously worked at Krishnamurthy & Co (K Law) and advised Bengaluru-based pharma company Strides Pharma Sciences on the $15 million sale of its Singapore manufacturing facility.
Brijita Prakash, a real estate expert specializing in matters related to title, urban development, and regulatory compliance, is another recent hire for JSA. Prakash, who previously worked at DSK Legal, has joined with a team of seven fee-earners from DSK Legal. Prakash has represented top developers and builders in Karnataka, including Prestige Estates, Brigade Enterprises, and Godrej Properties. She specializes in Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (RERA) related licensing, compliance, and disputes.
Harshavardhan Abburi, a disputes pro, completes the trio of recent hires for JSA.
These developments underscore Bengaluru's strategic importance in India's legal and business landscape, with large international law firms often working with established Indian firms in the city to provide seamless cross-border legal services.
Beyond Indian firms, the Asian legal market is witnessing dynamic lateral hiring and firm growth, although the focus in the search results is more on wider Asia than Bengaluru specifically.
In summary, Bengaluru is witnessing both the expansion of established Indian law firms' offices such as CMS INDUSLAW and Trilegal, and a wave of new boutique firms launched by leading legal professionals catering to the startup and tech sectors. This blend of traditional firm growth and innovative boutique models encapsulates the ongoing transformation of the legal market in Bengaluru.
