Expensive coffee release: Scarce caffeine heading to Dubai for $2 million
World's Most Expensive Coffee Comes to Dubai
In a historic move, the record-breaking highest-rated coffee in the world, a Washed Geisha variety from Hacienda La Esmeralda estate in Panama, will be available in Dubai. Julith Coffee & Roastery, a new coffee lounge in Al Quoz, has acquired the entire 20 kg lot at an auction and plans to roast it in extremely limited quantities.
The coffee, which scored an unprecedented 98.00 points at the Best of Panama competition in 2025, sold for $604,080 USD for 20 kilograms, making it the highest price ever paid in a coffee auction globally.
Grown in the high-altitude Chiriquí mountains of Panama, this coffee is famed for its clarity, complexity, and exceptional flavor profile. The beans undergo a meticulous 48-hour cold-temperature fermentation and climate-controlled drying to preserve their unique taste.
Julith Coffee & Roastery, headed by Turkish coffee roasting champion Serkan Sagsoz, won the auction for the record-breaking coffee, reinforcing its ambition to bring the world's rarest coffees to Dubai. Tasting sessions for this historic coffee are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
For coffee aficionados in Dubai, this is a rare opportunity to experience the highest-scoring Panamanian Washed Geisha. Julith Coffee & Roastery's new two-floor coffee lounge promises to be the perfect setting for these exclusive tastings.
Serkan Sagsoz, the Turkish coffee roasting champion at Julith Coffee & Roastery, expressed excitement about sharing this once-in-a-lifetime coffee with those who truly value the artistry behind every cup.
The Best of Panama competition, organized annually by the Specialty Coffee Association, gathers the world's finest coffee growers. The top-scoring varieties from the competition are evaluated by an international jury and then auctioned to an elite circle of buyers.
Panama first introduced the Geisha variety at the 2004 Best of Panama competition and has since established itself as the most recognized and expensive coffee in the world. The coffee shop Julith Coffee & Roastery has opened its doors in Dubai, offering a unique coffee experience for locals and visitors alike.
