Aston Martin's New Vanquish Volante: A Powerful and Luxurious Convertible

Aston Martin has unveiled its latest masterpiece, the Vanquish Volante, a convertible version of its flagship coupe. The Vanquish Volante showcases Aston Martin's exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail, with a host of unique features that set it apart.

Under the hood, the Vanquish Volante houses a twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12 engine, producing an impressive 824 horsepower and 738 lb-ft of torque. This power is transmitted to the rear wheels through an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, mounted at the back of the car for better weight distribution. The result is a car that accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.3 to 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 214 mph, making it the fastest front-engine convertible in the world.

The interior of the Vanquish Volante is practically identical to the coupe, with two 10.25-inch digital displays and physical controls for important functions. The car's materials and craftsmanship continue to impress, with beautiful quilting patterns on the seats and a chrome "horizon line" that stretches across the dashboard. Standard Sport Plus seats are featured, but carbon fiber Performance Seats are available for more spirited driving.

One of the standout features of the Vanquish Volante is its fabric convertible roof. It can open or close in just 16 seconds, operable at speeds up to 31 mph. When stowed, it sits low at 260 mm, maintaining a sleek rear deck profile. The acoustically enhanced soft top promises nearly the same thermal insulation and quietness as the coupe.

Despite being a drop-top and about 209 pounds heavier than the coupe version, the Vanquish Volante retains near 50/50 weight distribution, owing to the engine placement near the cabin. An optional lightweight titanium exhaust is available to reduce weight further. Advanced electronic aids such as an electronic rear differential, traction and stability control systems, and driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, auto high-beams, and traffic sign recognition help manage its immense power and enhance safety.

The Vanquish Volante is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, 2-passenger, 2-door convertible with dimensions of approximately 192.5 inches long, 78 inches wide, and 51 inches tall. It rides on 21-inch Pirelli P Zero tires and is equipped with massive carbon ceramic brakes, saving 60 pounds of unsprung weight compared to steel units. The suspension has been specifically retuned for the extra weight and slightly different weight distribution.

The folding fabric roof of the Vanquish Volante is called a "K-fold" design and can disappear in 14 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. The rear deck of the Vanquish Volante has been subtly redesigned compared to the coupe. First deliveries of the Vanquish Volante are scheduled for the third quarter of 2025, and total production (coupe and convertible combined) will be limited to fewer than 1,000 units per year.

The Vanquish Volante is expected to start around $460,000, slightly undercutting its closest rival, the Ferrari 12Cilindri Spider. With its powerful engine, sophisticated electronics, quick and thermally insulated soft-top roof, and luxury grand touring comfort and style, the Vanquish Volante is a car that's all muscle and grace.

  1. The Vanquish Volante, with its electric-vehicle counterparts, redefines the definition of luxury lifestyle, encompassing a blend of technology, style, and car-maintenance innovations into a single package.
  2. Gadget enthusiasts will appreciate the twin displays and heated, ventilated, and memory-foam seat options, while car-maintenance aficionados will relish the lightweight titanium exhaust system and advanced electronic aids.
  3. As electric-vehicles continue to infiltrate the market, the Vanquish Volante, with its combustion engine and sophisticated amenities, stands as a nod to the timeless combination of style, power, and performance that continues to captivate the automotive enthusiasts of lifestyles both old and new.
