Catching Up on the Latest Bike Tech The e-bike drive system pioneers at Fazua have rolled out their Firmware Bundle 12 meant for Ride 60 users. This whiz-bang update introduces Fazua's pioneering KickOverrun technology, offering cyclists an instant power boost when tackling technical ascents or sharp corner accelerations.
Upgrading your Ride 60
Fazua enthusiasts can update their e-bike's software from the comfort of their homes or by visiting their local Fazua dealer, free of charge. Some of the bikes we've recently tested that use Fazua's Ride 60 motor include YT's Decoy SN 29, the burly Decoy SN MX, and Santa Cruz's Heckler SL.

Almost a year after, Fazua announced their aim to analyze the sounds of their e-bike motors using AI technology to improve reliability and diagnose faults. The fresh firmware fails to substantially improve customer confidence in a drive unit often butted heads with reliability concerns. And a year since a glimpse of their long-awaited range extender, there's still no sign of a production model hitting the market.
The Star Feature: KickOverrun
The KickOverrun technology is the highlight of the Firmware update for Fazua's Ride 60 system. Described as "natural, powerful assistance exactly when you need it most," the novel KickOverrun technology delivers the same function as Bosch's Extended Boost. In short, the motor keeps driving forward for approximately 2 meters even when you slow down or stop pedaling, enabling riders to conquer obstacles more effortlessly on technical terrain. It remains unknown whether the KickOverrun is tweaked for each of the three power modes or if it's adjustable via the software.

Paul van Splunteren, Co-CEO of Porche eBike Performance GmbH — the company that owns Fazua — shared his thoughts:
"These enhancements represent our unwavering commitment to keeping our customers on the edge of innovation and taking the riding experience to new heights."

Unveiling the KickOverrun Secret
Fazua's official description of the KickOverrun technology reveals it detects distinctive pedaling patterns common in technical climbing — such as pumping power before letting up to clear obstructions — and dynamically deploys an extended power surge to facilitate climbing steep inclines and tackling challenging trail sections.
The automated power boost helps keep your Ride 60 moving forward on tricky sections where its usual power cutoff might be overly abrupt, thus preventing stalls or hang-ups. The duration of the KickOverrun applies for approximately 2 meters, just enough to climb steps and ledges if necessary without hitting your pedals.
However, Fazua stays mum on whether the KickOverrun will have different tuning settings depending on the system's power modes or if it can be fine-tuned using the app for optimal performance.
Other Ace Features in Firmware Bundle 12
Apart from mind-blowing KickOverrun technology, the Firmware Bundle 12 package ramps up the riding experience by developing a more sophisticated motor system with refined riding behavior, more precise power delivery, automatic sensor calibration, extended standby time, and improved overall system stability and reliability.
