First Look: Next-Gen BMW M3 Sedan Prototype Reveals Major Design Changes
BMW enthusiasts are abuzz with the first spy shots of the next-generation M3 Sedan, codenamed G84. The prototype hints at significant changes for the high-performance model, including a departure from the current M3's oversized kidney grille, adopting the Neue Klasse design, and widened fenders with M-specific hardware like cross-drilled brake discs and M aluminum rims.
Under the hood, the next M3 is expected to feature a 48-volt mild-hybrid system paired with a 3.0-liter inline-six engine, rumored to produce around 525 horsepower. BMW M CEO Frank van Meel has confirmed the next-generation internal combustion engine (ICE) M3 Sedan.
However, the G84 M3 will launch exclusively with an eight-speed automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive, disappointing manual transmission enthusiasts. The next M3 will not feature a plug-in hybrid system to maintain its agility, responsiveness, and interior space.
BMW is currently developing the next M3 Sedan, but specific details about its release date are not yet available. However, given BMW's history of announcing new models with fanfare, updates can be expected through official channels. The G84 M3 is expected to arrive after 2028.
The first spy shots of the next-generation M3 Sedan have been released, revealing a prototype with significant design changes and a powerful engine. Although the release date is still uncertain, BMW enthusiasts can look forward to more information in the coming years.
