Genesis GV80 Surpasses 100,000 U.S. Sales, Driving Hyundai's Luxury Ambitions

Hyundai Motor's luxury SUV, the Genesis GV80, has reached a significant milestone in the U.S., surpassing 100,000 cumulative sales. This achievement comes amidst growing global ambitions for the brand and positive market reception for the GV80's safety and luxury features.

The GV80's journey to this success began in 2020 when it was first launched, winning over customers with its luxurious design and advanced technology. Its popularity has since grown, with U.S. sales rising by 20% year-on-year during the first eight months of 2025, reaching 17,009 units and accounting for 40% of its global sales.

The GV80's safety performance gained further recognition in 2021 when legendary golfer Tiger Woods survived a serious rollover accident in the vehicle. This incident boosted public awareness of the GV80's safety capabilities. Meanwhile, the average transaction price for the GV80 in the U.S. has climbed to $64,766 in August 2025, up 4.2% from a year earlier, reflecting its growing appeal among luxury SUV buyers.

With 100,446 units sold in the U.S. as of August 2025, the GV80 has proven to be a strong performer for the Genesis brand. As Hyundai Motor Company aims to increase annual global sales to 350,000 units by 2030, the GV80 is expected to play a key role in achieving this target. However, uncertainty surrounding U.S. auto tariffs may impact the demand for South Korean vehicles, presenting a potential challenge for the GV80's continued success.
