Gigantic 164-foot yacht, blended with solar panels and boasting a Jacuzzi, makes its grand debut.

The maritime world is abuzz with excitement as two new vessels, a custom 164-foot explorer yacht and a sailing yacht called the 805, are currently under construction. These projects are the result of collaborations between Humphreys Yacht Design and JFA Yachts for the explorer yacht, and Humphreys Yacht Design and Oyster Yachts for the 805.

In July 2025, the first exterior renders of the 164-foot Humphreys Yacht Design explorer yacht were unveiled. This new 50-meter explorer yacht is being built at JFA's shipyard in Concarneau, France, and highlights a partnership between JFA Yachts and Humphreys Yacht Design. While specific details about the interior layout, launch date, or technical specifications have not been disclosed publicly yet, the involvement of Rob Humphreys, known for designing high-quality yachts, suggests premium design and engineering for the vessel.

The 805, unveiled in May, is a different kind of vessel. Designed for round-the-world sailing, it offers classic superyacht features, including a twin access swim platform. Unlike the explorer yacht, the 805 uses aluminum for the lower superstructure and composite for the upper superstructure. It is equipped with both MTU 12V 2000 M72 engines and 290kW Danoss electric motors, allowing it to cruise at 12 knots with a top speed of 20 knots in hybrid boost mode.

The 805 also boasts specific areas for toys and tenders, including a nearly 31-foot tender in the aft and a foredeck for rescue tenders and Jet Skis. However, unlike the explorer yacht, it does not have solar panels installed to allow for emissions-free and silent cruising at anchor.

The interior of the 805 is designed by Italian design firm m2atelier, offering a contemporary and luxurious space for its 10 passengers and 10 crew. The lower deck contains four staterooms, while the upper deck houses the owner's suite, which includes a Jacuzzi, office, and terrace.

As for the explorer yacht, while no further updates have been found, it is set for launch later this year. The yacht can travel over 5,000 nautical miles with its long-range capabilities and offers a spacious interior designed by m2atelier. The explorative folks at JFA could certainly appreciate the yacht's design, which includes features such as a twin access swim platform and specific areas for toys and tenders.

Both projects represent exciting developments in the world of yachting, showcasing the innovative designs and collaborations that are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in marine engineering and design. Keep an eye out for future announcements from JFA Yachts, Humphreys Yacht Design, and Oyster Yachts for more details on these remarkable vessels.
