Gizmodo, a leading tech, science, and pop culture news site, has announced a new role for a Social Media Editor. This position, based in the NYC-based newsroom, is covered under the collective bargaining agreement with the WGA-E.

The successful candidate will be responsible for amplifying and remixing content for social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. The role requires staying abreast of social media trends, using data-driven insights to optimize reach and engagement, and collaborating closely with editorial and marketing teams to amplify stories and build community.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of editorial experience and be familiar with journalistic best practices and the topics that Gizmodo covers. They should also have experience creating video, specifically short-form vertical video for TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms.

The role is part of a video-focused role and involves experimenting with formats, maintaining a focus on speed for news, building a regular publishing cadence, and optimizing workflows. The content produced should align with Gizmodo's brand voice and editorial standards.
