Google Boosts Security with AI-Powered Ransomware Defense for Drive
Google has bolstered its security measures with an AI-powered ransomware defense system, now integrated into Google Drive for Desktop. This new layer of protection is available to most Google Workspace business customers at no extra cost.
The new feature employs an AI model trained on millions of real ransomware examples, enabling it to continuously learn and adapt to recognize new variants. When an attack is detected, the system immediately halts synchronization with the cloud, preventing infected files from spreading.
Ransomware attacks are becoming increasingly prevalent and devastating, targeting various sectors such as manufacturing, retail, and hospitals. They often paralyze central business processes. IT departments will now receive notifications of suspicious activities and can access detailed logs via the security center.
Google's expansion of ransomware defense in Google Drive for Desktop offers a significant advantage to businesses. Affected users can swiftly restore files to a clean version via the Drive interface, minimizing downtime and data loss. This extended protection is a welcome addition to Google's suite of security features.
