Hell Divers 2 tops August's revenue earnings, crediting a significant surge from its Xbox debut, and Battlefield 6 ruled user engagement as well.

In the realm of video games, two titles have been making waves recently - Helldivers 2 and Battlefield 6.

Helldivers 2, a co-op shooter game released by Arrowhead Game Studios in 2024, has been extremely popular. The game, available across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PS5 for $39.99, recently surpassed its launch month in 2021 in terms of player engagement. This surge can be attributed to its port to Xbox Series X|S, which was so big it briefly crashed the servers.

The game's financial success can also be attributed to the $15 Halo-themed ODST crossover and the major Into the Unjust update. In August 2025, Helldivers 2 surged to the fourth place position in industry-wide gaming revenue chart according to analytics firm Newzoo. Nearly 1 million copies of Helldivers 2 were sold on Xbox six days after its arrival on the platform, with the Xbox version available for purchase for $37.79 at Loaded. The game can also be purchased at Steam for $69.99 and at Epic Games, EA, Xbox, and PS5.

On the other hand, Battlefield 6, developed by a collaboration of studios including DICE, Criterion, Motive, and Ripple Effect, and published by Electronic Arts (EA), is set to be released in October 2025. Preorders are already available across all its platforms. The developers have announced multiple changes being made in response to fan feedback from the beta.

Battlefield 6's beta climbed all the way to third place in August's monthly active users chart. On Steam alone, the Battlefield 6 Open Beta pulled in over 500K players. Sign-ups for Battlefield Labs, where these changes are being tested, have resumed again. A battle royale mode and larger, vehicle-focused maps are being tested in Battlefield Labs.

Despite initial controversy, Battlefield 2042 has experienced a resurgence in player engagement due to the introduction of a new Iwo Jima map and special Battlefield 6 rewards. Meanwhile, Battlefield V, a previous entry in the Battlefield series, has been struggling to stay relevant since its release in 2018.

In conclusion, both Helldivers 2 and Battlefield 6 are currently thriving in the gaming industry, with Helldivers 2 experiencing a significant surge in popularity following its release on Xbox Series X|S and the introduction of new updates. Battlefield 6, on the other hand, is generating anticipation with its upcoming release in October 2025 and the testing of new features in Battlefield Labs.
