Henkell Freixenet Boosts UK Presence with Bolney Wine Estate Acquisition
Henkell Freixenet, a global leader in sparkling wine, has bolstered its presence in the UK by acquiring Bolney Wine Estate. The deal, announced in September 2022 and completed in January 2023, sees Bolney join the Freixenet Copestick group, further strengthening the image of English sparkling wine.
Bolney Wine Estate, established in 1972, is renowned for its award-winning sparkling and still wines. Sam Linter, daughter of the founders, currently serves as the winemaker and managing director. Robin Copestick, MD of Freixenet Copestick, praised Bolney's wines and management under Sam Linter's leadership.
As part of the acquisition, Sam Linter will continue to manage Bolney Wine Estate, working closely with Henkell Freixenet and Freixenet Copestick teams. Bolney's wines are now available through Freixenet Copestick's sales team, Jascots Wine Merchants, and Slurp eCommerce website. Henkell Freixenet aims to grow Bolney's national and international presence.
The acquisition of Bolney Wine Estate by Henkell Freixenet was officially announced in September 2022 and completed in January 2023. Bolney will continue operating under its own name, benefiting from the international distribution networks and expertise of its new owners. This deal is set to further boost the profile of English sparkling wine on the global stage.
