Hessen Residents Can Now Add State Holidays to Outlook Calendars
Hessen residents can now import the state's legal holidays into their Outlook calendars using an available ICS file. The region observes 10 holidays annually, with shops closed on these days, except for essential services.
Hessen's legal holidays include New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labor Day, Ascension Day, Whit Monday, Corpus Christi, German Unity Day, and the two Christmas Days. On these days, shops remain closed, with the exception of gas stations, emergency pharmacies, and shops located within train stations and airports.
Some of these holidays, such as Good Friday and Christmas, are also 'quiet days' with restrictions on public events. Additionally, Hessen observes non-statutory holidays like Heilige Drei Könige on January 6 and Allerheiligen on November 1, although these are not public holidays in the state. Notably, Reformation Day on October 31 is not a legal holiday in Hessen.
Hessen's legal holidays, along with some non-statutory celebrations, can now be easily added to Outlook calendars using the provided ICS file. Residents are reminded that shops will be closed on these days, with exceptions for essential services.
