High-frequency Transceiver Device from ASKM Detection Capable of Identifying Children, Falls, and Various Incidents
Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) is set to demonstrate its groundbreaking AK581x millimeter-wave radar transceiver technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024, held at the Las Vegas Convention Centre (LVCC), North Hall, Booth #11051.
The AK581x, a product of AKM, is a 60 GHz millimeter-wave radar transceiver integrated circuit (IC) designed for high-resolution detection. Its multi-channel architecture allows for 50 cm isolation performance and a high range resolution as fine as 2.2 cm. This technology is part of the Asahi Kasei Group.
Gregg Rouse, President of AKM Semiconductor, Inc., emphasised that the demonstration of the AK581x technology is not just about showcasing a product, but about demonstrating a shift in how lifestyles can be enhanced by new technologies. The AK581x's capabilities will be demonstrated in various scenarios, including elder care monitoring and child presence detection (CPD) in vehicles.
In the realm of elder care, the booth will feature a radar solution set up in a room to simulate monitoring for elderly care. This demonstration aims to showcase the potential of the AK581x technology in understanding human needs in an increasingly automated world, promoting safety and independence for the elderly, and providing peace of mind.
For CPD, a vehicle at the booth will be equipped with the AK581x system. When paired with Pontosense's artificial intelligence and machine learning-driven software, the AK581x delivers a solution that offers flexible resolution and fields of view without the need for cameras and microphones. This technology aims to exceed current vehicle regulations and standards for CPD globally.
Emerging technologies like the AK581x could make a significant difference in preventing injuries from situations like children being left in hot vehicles and older adults suffering from falls. Gregg Rouse highlighted that these demonstrations aim to showcase the ease with which this solution may be integrated into various products and environments.
Murata is the company presenting the millimeter-wave radar transceiver technology product AK581x from Asahi Kasei Microdevices for the first time at CES 2024. The AK581x is capable of simultaneously detecting multiple persons' respiratory rates and positions, making it a versatile tool for various applications.
Visitors to CES 2024 are encouraged to stop by Booth #11051 to witness the transformative potential of the AK581x millimeter-wave radar transceiver technology. The demonstrations are set to be an exciting glimpse into the future of technology and its role in enhancing safety and independence.
