New Holland's T7.270 Methane Power Tractor Debuts at Schnackenberg GmbH Biogas Plant

In a significant step towards sustainable agriculture, New Holland Agriculture has unveiled its latest innovation - the T7.270 Methane Power tractor. This new tractor, a variant of the T7 series, is making waves in the industry for its efficient use of biomethane as fuel.

The T7.270 Methane Power tractor is equipped with a spark-ignition engine, replacing the traditional diesel engine. Nine tanks within the tractor can hold approximately 120 kg of biomethane, providing a range extender that equates to a diesel equivalent of 291 liters.

The tractor's AutoCommand transmission ensures optimal RPM and fuel consumption for efficiency, while its simple exhaust aftertreatment, requiring only a three-way catalytic converter, further enhances its eco-friendliness.

Operating the T7.270 Methane Power tractor can save up to 10,000 euros per year compared to diesel, and over 24,000 euros with self-produced biomethane. Refueling the tractor takes approximately 3 minutes, and overnight slow-fill refueling can fully charge the tanks by morning.

The T7.270 Methane Power tractor is tested at Schnackenberg GmbH biogas plant and found to be efficient. Schnackenberg GmbH, a company that operates a biogas plant, fuels cars and trucks with CNG, and now relies on the T7 Methane Power.

The FPT NEF six-cylinder engine specifically designed for biomethane powers the tractor, producing 271 HP and 1,160 Nm of torque. Methane burns almost emission-free in the T7 CNG engine, reducing maintenance costs and increasing reliability. The tractor can operate for up to 10 hours.

For a comprehensive review of the T7.270 Methane Power tractor, readers are invited to check out the detailed test drive report in the traction September/October 2025 issue. It's worth noting that the reduced engine noise during operation adds to the tractor's appeal.

In conclusion, the T7.270 Methane Power tractor is a promising development in the agriculture industry, offering significant cost savings, increased efficiency, and a reduced environmental footprint.
