Hong Kong-based Georgiou Partnership recruits intellectual property partner from Tiang, a firm connected to PwC.
In the world of legal firms, there have been some notable shifts recently, particularly with Tiang & Partners and Georgiou Partnership.
Joyce Tung, a corporate partner at Tiang & Partners, has taken on a new role as a consultant at the firm earlier this year. However, the departure of intellectual property partner Chiang Ling Li to join Georgiou Partnership in July 2025 has left the firm with three partners, as confirmed by Li's recent work.
Chiang Ling Li, with over 30 years of experience in data and intellectual property law, specializes in patent disputes, trade secrets litigation, and data protection compliance. Prior to joining Tiang & Partners in 2021, Li was a partner at Jones Day.
Li's practice includes advising governments on cybersecurity regulations and data exchange frameworks, as well as multinational corporations on data breaches and cross-border data transfers. One of her recent projects involves conducting analysis on data flow policies in the Greater Bay Area connecting Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China.
The Hong Kong law firm Georgiou Partnership, established last year by Philip Georgiou, has welcomed Li as a partner. Georgiou, who previously worked at Baker Botts and Jones Day, is joined by Li and Randall Arthur, with no earlier mention of Arthur.
Meanwhile, funds expert Gaven Cheong moved to Charles Russell Speechlys from Tiang & Partners earlier this year. Despite the departure of Chiang Ling Li, the Hong Kong Judiciary list confirms that Tiang & Partners remains an active registered law firm. However, the firm's current partners beyond Joyce Tung are not publicly detailed in the recent sources available up to August 2025.
As such, additional direct inquiry with the firm or specialized legal directories may be necessary to obtain an authoritative and updated list of partners at Tiang & Partners following Chiang Ling Li's departure.
