Microsoft Rolls Out New Features for Copilot+ PCs, with a Focus on Accessibility and Performance

Microsoft has recently released a new set of Windows Insider Builds, introducing a host of new features for Copilot+ PCs. One of the most notable additions is an enhancement to the Narrator feature, which now provides detailed descriptions of images, charts, and graphs on Copilot+ PCs running on the Copilot+ platform with the latest Qualcomm processors (Copilot+ PCs with Snapdragon X processors have had this feature since April 2025).

To activate Narrator, simply press "Ctrl + Windows key + Enter" on your PC or search for "Narrator" in the Windows search box. To use the new image description feature, press "Ctrl + Narrator key + D" once Narrator is active.

Another significant change is the addition of a new page in the Settings app: Settings > Privacy & security > Text and image generation. This page allows users to see which third-party applications have recently used generative AI models provided by Windows. Users can control which apps are permitted to use these models by adjusting their settings on this page.

In addition, Microsoft is working on improving the discoverability of widgets on the lock screen for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. The "Discover widgets" toggle under Settings > Personalization > Lock screen can be used to enable or disable this feature.

It's worth noting that there seems to be a staggered launch of features for Copilot+ PCs, with devices powered by Snapdragon X processors tending to get features first. This is due to Microsoft's controlled feature rollout strategy, where features are first released and tested on Snapdragon X devices before broader distribution to AMD and Intel systems.

When a PC experiences slow or sluggish performance, logs are now collected for Windows Insiders. These logs are stored locally and only sent to Microsoft via the Feedback Hub when feedback is submitted. This helps Microsoft to identify and address issues related to slow or sluggish performance more effectively.

For AMD and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs, a new "describe image" action has been added to Click to Do. This feature generates descriptions locally on the device to keep sensitive data secure. Users can file feedback related to system sluggishness under the Desktop > System Sluggishness category to allow the Feedback Hub to automatically pick up these logs.

No official statement has been made by Qualcomm and Microsoft regarding an exclusivity agreement for Copilot+ PC features. However, the delay in rolling out new features for AMD and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs compared to Snapdragon X-powered Copilot+ PCs reflects Microsoft's careful testing, staging, and platform-specific adjustments to ensure stability and user experience parity.

  1. The new image description feature is accessible on Copilot+ PCs, including laptops and desktops, running the latest Qualcomm processors (like Snapdragon X).
  2. Users can enjoy enhanced accessibility on their Xbox gaming console, as Microsoft continues to improve its software and hardware offerings across various gadgets, such as smartphones and technology.
  3. It's predicted that future updates to the Copilot+ platform may bring even more advanced features to PCs, laptops, and smartphones, following Microsoft's focus on performance and accessibility.
  4. To ensure secure handling of sensitive data, a new "describe image" action has been added to Click to Do on Copilot+ PCs powered by AMD and Intel processors, processing descriptions locally on the device.
  5. Microsoft encourages users to submit feedback on system sluggishness through the Feedback Hub, as this helps identify and address performance issues, especially on AMD and Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs.
  6. The addition of Settings > Privacy & security > Text and image generation has enabled users to see which apps are using generative AI models provided by Windows and control their usage, benefiting both PC and Copilot+ PC users alike.
