The 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) took place in Beijing from July 16 to 20, 2025, under the theme "Connecting the World for a Shared Future." The event, which featured over 650 companies and institutions from 75 countries and regions, marked the launch of the Beijing Initiative.

The Beijing Initiative, jointly issued by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and representatives from the global business community, focuses on safeguarding global supply chains and promoting innovation-driven development. The initiative emphasizes the need to maintain stable and open global industrial and supply chains, reject the politicization of economic issues, and foster equitable, inclusive partnerships in industrial and supply chains. It also advocates for enhanced cooperation in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence, quantum information, and life sciences.

Ren Hongbin, Chairman of CCPIT, presided over the opening ceremony. Key speakers at the event included John Denton, Secretary-General of the International Chamber of Commerce, who emphasized the expo’s role as a "forest of connections" between economies, industries, and people. Wang Yiwei, Director of the Institute of International Affairs at Renmin University of China, noted that the strong participation of multinational firms reflects the "continued momentum and irreversibility of globalization." Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, praised China’s innovators and researchers, highlighting the event’s international scope and China’s ambition in AI and technology sectors.

Thailand served as the Guest Country of Honor, while Shandong and Guangdong provinces were featured as Guest Provinces of Honor. The Expo featured six key industrial chains and one exhibition area: Advanced Manufacturing Chain, Smart Vehicle Chain, Green Agriculture Chain, Clean Energy Chain, Digital Technology Chain, Healthy Life Chain, and Supply Chain Service Area.

Ren stated that this year's Expo features broader international participation, a more defined supply chain structure, and a stronger emphasis on innovation. He also mentioned that CCPIT will continue to serve both domestic and international companies. Ren encouraged members of the global business community to work together to uphold the multilateral trade system anchored in the World Trade Organization.

The UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the International Trade Centre (ITC), and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) are supporting the event as partners. The Expo showcases cutting-edge technologies, products, and services across the entire supply chain, attracting more than 1,100 participants from over 100 countries, regions, and international organizations.

The Beijing Initiative represents a collective call for deeper global integration, open markets, and multilateral engagement to address increasing economic uncertainties. CCPIT aims to maintain the global public good nature of industrial and supply chains and contribute to the development of an open global economy. The initiative also aims to contribute to a shared future for humanity.
