John Nightreign's countenance remains concealed: YouTuber successfully unearths most of Elden Ring Nightreign's hidden Nightfarer visages, maintaining an enigma surrounding his aspect.
Diving into the enigmatic world of Elden Ring Nightreign, it's not the bizarre matchmaking system or Morgott's relentless pursuit that leaves players scratching their heads. Instead, the real head-scratcher lies in understanding the identities of some Nightfarers.
Unlike Elden Ring, Nightreign hands players a set of pre-designed Nightfarers, each with distinct looks and skins. Truth be told, many players embark on their adventures without ever knowing what some of these characters truly look like. That is until Soulsborn enthusiast, Zullie the Witch, peeled back the curtain.
Turns out, Nightreign focuses on specialized champions rather than offering customizable characters, trading flexibility for unique traits. And guess what? Even beneath their helmets, these characters have something to hide.
Some Nightfarer faces are quite straightforward to see. For instance, the Recluse dons a traditional witch hat that casts her face in shadow, but a certain skin removes the hat, revealing her features. Similarly, the Raider hides his face under a dragonlike helm, but one of his skins removes this mask, showing his entire face. As for the Revenant, her face is clear to see, although you can catch a glimpse of her vengeful phantom self during her ultimate move.
The Duchess is hardly an exception, with her face mostly veiled by a blindfold crown. Removing the crown in both skins reveals her eyes. The Guardian, on the other hand, appears to be just another hooded character, but in truth, he belongs to a new avian race, the Pinionfolk. Despite some rumors, Zullie confirmed that there's no human face hidden beneath the guardian's eagle-like visage.
On the other hand, some Nightfarers guard their appearances more modestly. For example, Ironeye’s face is hardly visible, but there's some facsdata beneath, especially from the front. Similar, albeit less revealing, is the Executor whose face is mostly hidden by his helmet. His eyes seem to have a copper tint, hinting at his connection to the Crucible.
While most Nightfarers have interchangeable skins changing their appearance, the Executor stands out with copper-eyed skins that might give us a clue about the Crucible Knights' appearance. The only Nightfarer with a hidden face is Wylder, whose armor conceals his features, leaving his appearance shrouded in mystery.
Truth be told, it's a little frustrating that we'll never truly know what Wylder looks like, but one commenter in the video sums it up, "Of course, John Nightreign doesn’t have a face," adding that it doesn't make his character any less cool. After all, we've uncovered the identities of most others, so a little gratitude is in order!
