Kimber's New R7 Mako: A 14-Round, Optic-Ready Concealed Carry Pistol

Kimber has unveiled the R7 Mako, a 19-ounce, 1-inch-thick carry gun that holds 14 rounds and conceals well. This new addition to the market features a 3.37-inch barrel and an optic-ready slide with TruGlo Pro sights. It's set to retail for around $600.

The R7 Mako stands out with its beefier ejector and machined steel rails for the slide, instead of aluminum-reinforced polymer guides. It boasts an ambidextrous slide release and an oversized, ambidextrous magazine-release button for ease of use. The gun's ejection port is open only on the right, keeping gases and brass away from the optic.

Kimber has focused on grip and control with aggressive 360-degree stippling, a slight palm swell, and an ultra-thin beavertail. The trigger is one of the best factory-offered, striker-fired triggers, with an average pull weight of 4.5 pounds and minimal creep. The company has also addressed sighting issues by installing factory TruGlo tritium tall sights that can be used through the optic's glass if the batteries fail. The R7 Mako performs exceptionally well with premium ammo, averaging 0.90 groups at 10 yards with a red-dot optic.

The Kimber R7 Mako offers a compelling combination of compactness, sighting options, and performance. With its optic-ready capability, 13-round magazine capacity, and impressive trigger, it's a strong contender in the concealed carry market. The R7 Mako is set to retail for around $600, providing excellent value for its features.
