Leaked Animations Suggest Samsung's Tri-Fold Design in One UI 8 Before Official Release

The tech world is abuzz with excitement as Samsung prepares to unveil its latest innovation, the Samsung Galaxy G Fold, a tri-fold smartphone. Rumours and leaks have been circulating, and recent findings in One UI 8 software have shed light on some of the device's anticipated features.

## Design and Display

The Galaxy G Fold is expected to boast a unique G-shaped fold, an inward-folding mechanism that enhances screen protection compared to outward-folding devices. This design allows the device to transition between compact and expanded states, featuring two hinges that fold inward. The unfolded display is rumoured to be around 10 inches, while the cover screen is approximately 6.5 inches.

## Camera and Hardware

The rear camera setup is expected to resemble the Galaxy Z Fold 7, with a triple camera array arranged vertically. The selfie camera will be housed on the middle panel. The exact specifications for the processor and battery are not yet available, but the device is anticipated to use advanced foldable screen technology.

## Additional Features and Launch

The Galaxy G Fold is unlikely to support the S Pen at launch, focusing instead on durability and design. It is speculated that Samsung will produce a limited number of phones, around 300,000 units, and the device is expected to be priced above $2,500, targeting premium markets. The official launch is anticipated for the fourth quarter of 2025.

One UI 8's warning animation advises users not to fold the panel with the camera array first when closing, likely to avoid damaging the left panel. The right-most panel will house a vertical, triple camera array, similar to the Z Fold 6. The center panel will house the phone's cover display and a centered selfie camera, with the internal display's selfie camera placed on the far right side when in use.

Samsung's internal code for the device is speculated to be "Multifold 7," which could be a codename. The Samsung trifold device was teased during Unpacked, listed among Android XR and other foldable illustrations.

Consumers might not be able to purchase the trifold device until the fall, but more information on Samsung's upcoming foldables can be found in the Ultimate Guide. Stay tuned for the official unveiling at Samsung's upcoming summer Unpacked event, where the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 are also expected to be unveiled.
