Singapore - French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Singapore from May 29 to 30, 2025, during which both nations will strengthen their partnership, marked by the signing of various agreements. The cooperative efforts will focus on defense and security, law, artificial intelligence, and transport, among other sectors.

This visit comes as France elevates its relationship with Singapore to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), the first for Singapore with any European country. This development reflects an expansion and deepening of collaborative efforts in numerous key areas.

During his stay, Macron will deliver the keynote speech at the Shangri-La Dialogue on May 30, making him the first European leader to do so. The state visit will also pay tribute to the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between France and Singapore.

After concluding a preliminary defense pact in Indonesia, Macron is heading to Singapore, followed by a visit to Vietnam where he agreed on orders for Airbus planes. Upon arriving in Singapore, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and his wife will host a dinner for the French President and his spouse on the first day.

On the second day, Macron will be welcomed ceremoniously at Parliament House, where he will meet President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and attend a state banquet. The French leader will also have a subsequent meeting with Prime Minister Wong, who is also the Finance Minister, witnessing the exchange of the Memoranda of Understanding on the aforementioned areas of cooperation.

The French delegation accompanying Macron consists of several key leaders, including Minister for the Economy, Finance, and Digital and Industrial Sovereignty Eric Lombard, Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister of Culture Rachida Dati, and Minister Delegate for AI and Digital Affairs Clara Chappaz.

This visit to Singapore is expected to signify a significant milestone in the evolving relationship between France and Singapore, positioning both nations as crucial partners in various traditional and emerging sectors of mutual interest.
